Macy's Marketing Case Competition
$800 in 8 Days. A $500 First Prize. Happy New Year.
MUSE is proud to present the second annual Macy's Marketing Case Competition, the Undergraduate Marketing Case Competition at Penn, to be hosted in conjunction with the 5th annual MARC Marketing Advertising and Retail Conference. In the ever-changing, fast-paced corporate world, thinking on your feet is a must. Changing information and resources mean that you might be called on to make quick decisions. This case competition is designed to give entrants a chance to test their marketing prowess and use their abilities to put together a case presentation in just one week--and respond and adapt to unexpected changes in just a few hours. And once the week is up, the winning team will not only receive the grand cash prize of $500, but also have the opportunity to present their winning ideas to all attending the MARC lunch—including Macy’s and other leading on-campus representatives.
Once again, Macy's has provided a real and current case problem that they want your help to solve concerning strategic positioning and rebranding. They've prepared all the case material for you and, a team of up to 3 others to put together a solution. This not only means that you'll have the opportunity to impress Macy's recruiters, but also means that if they like your ideas, they might even end up using them in a national campaign.
Why Participate?
- Participate in teams of 1-4 in the primary Undergraduate Marketing Case Competition at Penn
- Impress Macy's on campus recruiters with your ideas and abilities
- Help Macy's solve a real and current marketing case, and potentially have your ideas used in a national campaign
- Gain real and valuable marketing experience by putting your skills to the test
- Win the opportunity to present to leading companies recruiting on campus at the MARC networking lunch.
- First Place: $500
- Second Place: $200
- Third Place: $100
Rules & Guidelines
So what kind of work and deliverables does the case competition involve? It's relatively straightforward. On Saturday, the case, scoring rubric, and final guidelines will be released to all registered teams. Teams will have three days to put together a two page executive summary in response to the case prompt, and submit it by the end of Thursday. On Friday, all teams will arrive at 9am, receive a final briefing on the case, and get two hours to work on refining their presentation before presenting to the judges. Winners will then be announced at the MARC networking lunch. Three days for half a thousand dollars. Not bad, huh?
Registration is easy and best of all, completely free. Here's how:
